Book Review: A walk to Remember

Few days back, while watching this movie A walk to Remember, my inquisitive nature constrained me to read the book on which this movie is based. I believe books has profound details as compare to the movie and this is the best part about reading any book. You become acquainted with every single detail which was not shown in the movie. So back to the point I began reading this book in the morning and by night I was finished with it and loved everything about it even though I knew it's storyline. A walk to remember is written in first person by American writer Nicholas Spark. (My favorite writer btw :p ). In spite of the fact that the story is fictional, yet there are a few events that are based on real life experiences. It was released in October 1999. It is the story of two teenagers who are in love with each other despite of their differences. In this novel, Nicholas tells us that the important choices, that matter the most are made by listening to your heart. Landon Carter, considers Jamie Sullivan, daughter of a minister a boring school going girl who is one dimensional. Landon thinks Jamie is a religious fanatic since she always holds Bible.

The story takes it's turn when Landon spends some time with Jamie and discovers that she is an ordinary girl with extraordinary habits like helping poor, being nice to everyone, kind and gentle . Later he learns that Jamie will die of a incurable disease and has few days left so he marries her. Jamie dies, but Landon puts in the following 40 years being committed to her. He carried his love for her for next 40 years without getting into any other relationship. Landon listens to his heart, despising all the logics which is what makes this novel worth reading.
